OUR HISTORY

Our Story

Bound Together in Christ

ConneXion Church of Savannah was formed through the merger of three congregations: Aldersgate United Methodist Church, Cokesbury United Methodist Church, and a portion of Speedwell United Methodist Church.

At the request of Dr. Wayne Moseley, Coastal District Superintendent at the time, each congregation prayerfully considered this unique and historic merger.

In August 2015, Bishop James King of the South Georgia Annual Conference approved the merger, paving the way for the formation of ConneXion Church.

From August 2015 to May 2016, representatives from each congregation met as a transition team to prepare for the launch of the new church, utilizing the campus formerly known as Cokesbury UMC.

The transition team agreed to name the new church ConneXion Church — the British spelling of “connection,” meaning to bind together.

ConneXion Church held its first worship experience on June 19, 2016.

Our Journey

A Journey of Faith and Unity

Pastor J. Michael Culbreth began his leadership with a sermon series entitled Making the Connection, setting the tone for a church rooted in unity and mission.

ConneXion Church is intentionally multi-racial and inter-generational, committed to fulfilling its mission through powerful worship, purposeful outreach ministries, and personal evangelism.

We seek to impact the city of Savannah in positive and powerful ways — breaking down the walls and barriers that separate us as God’s people.

On July 1, 2025, ConneXion Church welcomed Rev. Dr. Theophilus J. Stanford as pastor.
